Now

What has my attention at the moment. This page changes; the rest of the site accumulates.

Updated 5 September 2026, from Kathmandu.

Work

Technical preparation on transboundary rivers. Day to day, the usual queue of irrigation and water supply project files.

Research

Three manuscripts are open on my desk at once, which is two too many:

  • The 26 August Rasuwa event, the Lhende Khola rock-ice avalanche and the outburst flood down the Bhotekoshi. Writing this up while the field information is still fresh.
  • Kathmandu Valley groundwater, turning a government study into something publishable on domestic and irrigation dependency.
  • The Tulsipur crop-yield work from my undergraduate thesis, being rebuilt for a journal rather than a viva.

Study

Coursework for the MSc in Disaster Risk Engineering and Management, and economics papers at RR Campus.

Reading and thinking about

Time in the public project cycle: how many months a project actually spends waiting versus working. I am building a dataset rather than an opinion.

Not doing

Taking on new consulting. Starting anything else until at least one of the three manuscripts is submitted.
